All about the Muertoons and Muertown
Muertoons is the tale of the not-so-ordinary lives of a group of kids trying to grow up in a world, where every day is Dia de los Muertos.
Rosita is the caring heart that draws the Muertoons together and finds ways to spread their friendship to others.
Gabi always lets her imagination soar and carries her friends on to new adventures.
Rubi is a tiny ball of energy with a talent for sports, she shows everyone that even the smallest can overcome the biggest challenges.
Lupita sees the beauty in nature and the world; with Lupita around, goodness is always in bloom.
Bibi is the new girl in town and plans to rock the dead world; so if you mess with her or her friends, you better look out!
Sugarskull and spice and everything nice, these girls don’t just bring life to their home of Muertown, but seek out fun wherever they can find it. From their home of Muertown to farthest reaches of their world, no matter where they go or who they meet, the Muertoons always seem to leave their mark and that mark is usually a smile.
In a place where clocks don’t tick, the trials and tribulations of coming-of-age are far from usual, but you can still be late for class!

Rosita Y Conchita Grief Poem
We realized that as a result of recent events in this country and around the world, there may be many people, especially children, who are feeling scared or worried right now. We wanted to put together a message that hopefully would offer a bit of comfort to those who may have lost someone they cared about. This poem was written by Erich Haeger with art by Eric Gonzalez. Please feel free to download and share this image with anyone in your life you think could benefit from it.

Rosita Y Conchita Final Colors
Finally, in Photoshop, I add textures, shadows and lighting effects along with the final text.
Then it's off to the printers, but the process doesn't end there. The printers usually have some technical stuff for us to change, so we have to go back and forth until everything is fit as a whistle, sharp as a thistle. Then we play the waiting game. When we get tired of the waiting game we play Hungry Hungry Hippos.
